Charity begins at home: For the auspicious Charity, Housing Works, and Designers across the Metro NY area gathered together to decorate small rooms. The furniture and all the items were then sold at 80% off retail to raise a glorious 1.2 Million dollars. Quite a tidy sum for individuals who need housing, individuals afflicted with AIDS, and other mental health issues. It was a great event, and DecoRada Wallpaper Installation decorated three booths in Charity’s name. A job well done!
Wednesday, May 1st, we had our annual memorial service at the Rockville Center Lodge. Over 30 brothers gathered to remember and honor members who passed away in 2023 and 2024. As you are aware, Borough Park Lodge is now part of the Nassau district. It was our honor to be the only Lodge with members who had passed away. At this moment in time we ask our current members who have friends and family in Brooklyn, to come to a meeting and experience firsthand the beauty of Odd Fellowship.
Opinions, discourse, and empowerment: It is very much worth noting that a well-spoken candidate will always have our attention. Our support may go elsewhere but we are inclined, at the very least, to listen. A clear, concise message will move people. An attorney with a limp argument has little hope for judicial intervention. The leaders among us all speak well. If they spoke poorly, they would not lead us for long. The art of public speaking is not hereditary. There is no medicinal supplement or magic potion. It is stand on your two feet and deliver. If you are not quite there, then you need to come to our meetings.
2023/2034 Dues are due: If you have not sent in your dues, please do so. Current dues are $65.00 for 2025 the dues go to $85.
Have you got game? Every Sunday (weather permitting), several seniors (your editor included) gather at Coney Island Park (Neptune and 27th Street) or Marine Park to play doubles tennis. We now meet at 10 am. If you have game and would like to join us, call Fran Schwartz at 347-794-1315 for the Sunday tennis match! For Pickles contact Gus.
