In communication with Beth David Cemetery in regard to Cosmopolitan Lodge grounds. Both concrete walkways are in disrepair. We have sent a formal request to replace both walkways. We are awaiting confirmation of the cost.
In our on-going search for new members, we would like to encourage our current members to send over your children, nieces and nephews or grandchildren to a meeting. Why not take a moment and extoll the virtues of our order to members of your family and help grow the Lodge.
For those members who like to read may I recommend the book Still Life by Sarah Lindman. An incredible tale of friendship, respect and love. What more can you ask for.
To be relevant: In an effort to bolster attendance, create interest and garner new members, our Noble Grand Dr. Warren Wexelman has outlined a bold plan to bring scholarship money to local area students. Those students who excel should be recognized for their outstanding efforts. We applaud this initiative and look forward to more of what it means to be relevant.
The Educational Foundation of the IOOF: If you haven’t heard, the are a number of new scholarships available to students from families affiliated with the IOOF. Come to our next meeting for a review.
Opinions, discourse, and empowerment: It is very much worth noting that a well- spoken individual will always have our attention. Our support may go elsewhere but we are inclined at the very least, to listen. A clear, concise message will move people. An attorney with a limp argument has little hope for judicial intervention. The leaders among us all speak well. If they spoke poorly, they would not lead for us for long. The art of public speaking is not hereditary. There is no medicinal supplement nor magic potion. It is stand on your two feet and deliver. If you are not quite there, then you need to come to our meetings to practice.
Have you got game? Every Sunday (weather permitting) several seniors gather at Coney Island Park (Neptune and 27th Street) to play doubles tennis. They now meet at 9 am. If you have game and would like to join them, call Fran Schwartz at 347-794-1315 for the Sunday tennis match! For Pickles contact Gus.
